Leading overhead conveyor manufacturer MCM Conveyors of Oldham have been following up a hot prospect for some months and can now confirm that the export order to Chile has now been secured. The contract is for a heavy duty (HD) 'Power & Free' overhead conveying system which will handle product up to 15 metres long.

MCM Conveyors have offered their Autotrack 500 conveyor system which utilises HD trolleys and loadbars to carry the 15 metres long products weighing 2500kg.
The conveyor system is designed to operate through a powder coating facility, which comprises a powder booth complete with application equipment and stoving oven.
Due to the length and weight of the product, and the requirement for stop / start robot loading, a 'power & free' conveyor and a special 90° "side shuffle" design was also incorporated into the system which optimised the available factory floor space.
The side shuffle design allows a trolley assembly to move in the direction of travel and then traverse at each end of the conveyor, at 90° to the main line. This obviously eliminates any chording of the product, which would normally occur on a standard horizontal bend, and therefore reduces the overall foot print size of the plant.
